Editorial Guidelines

CarCabin publishes data-first vehicle profiles, comparisons, and shopping guides. These guidelines describe our standards.

Source-first reporting

Every number a reader sees is sourced. Vehicle data comes from public datasets maintained by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Source citations are linked inline next to each claim, with descriptive link text on the dataset name.

AI assistance

Research and drafting are AI-assisted. Every article is reviewed by a CarCabin editor before publication. We do not use AI to invent statistics, ratings, or recall information; every numeric claim is backed by a public dataset and cited inline.

Risk-balanced writing

Buying a vehicle is a high-stakes decision. Every article shows risks and downsides, not just benefits. We use qualifying language (“typically,” “may,” “generally”) and avoid absolute claims (“you should,” “risk free,” “guaranteed”).

Independence

CarCabin accepts no payment for editorial placement. Vehicle rankings, best-of lists, and CarCabin Scores are derived from public data using the formula on our methodology page. See how we make money for the affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

If you spot a data error, contact us via the contact page. Verified corrections are made promptly and noted on the page.

Review cadence

Vehicle data is refreshed against NHTSA and EPA on a recurring schedule. Editorial articles are reviewed annually or when material regulatory changes occur.
