Editorial Guidelines
CarCabin publishes data-first vehicle profiles, comparisons, and shopping guides. These guidelines describe our standards.
Source-first reporting
Every number a reader sees is sourced. Vehicle data comes from public datasets maintained by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The data source is shown beside the stat, and the underlying dataset is cited at the bottom of each article.
AI assistance
CarCabin uses AI to draft and structure long-form articles from underlying federal data. Drafts are reviewed by a human editor before publication. AI-assisted articles include an “AI authorship” line at the bottom.
AI is not used to invent statistics, ratings, or recall information. Every numeric claim is backed by a public dataset.
Risk-balanced writing
Buying a vehicle is a high-stakes decision. Every article shows risks and downsides, not just benefits. We use qualifying language (“typically,” “may,” “generally”) and avoid absolute claims (“you should,” “risk free,” “guaranteed”).
Independence
CarCabin accepts no payment for editorial placement. Vehicle rankings, best-of lists, and CarCabin Scores are derived from public data using the formula on our methodology page. See how we make money for the affiliate disclosure.
Corrections
If you spot a data error, contact us via the contact page. Verified corrections are made promptly and noted on the page.
Review cadence
Vehicle data is refreshed against NHTSA and EPA on a recurring schedule. Editorial articles are reviewed annually or when material regulatory changes occur.
